Berard AIT isn’t a therapeutic trend—it’s a method with decades of international use, rooted in neuroscience and backed by clinical studies. Research shows that targeted auditory training can improve how the brain processes sound, which in turn impacts attention, communication, learning, behavior, and emotional regulation.
We know that individuals and professionals want to feel confident in the methods they choose. That’s why we’re committed to transparency and sharing the research behind our work.
Below, you’ll find a collection of published studies, articles, and summaries that explore the neurological, behavioral, and developmental effects of auditory integration training. While some are written for a professional audience, we’ve included a few overviews and accessible materials for those looking to learn more.
We have several videos on this website and on the Official Berard AIT YouTube channel that cover a wide range of topics about the Berard method and its effectiveness.
These videos were produced prior to the development of the new Remote Berard AIT program and the Auditory Integration Modulator (AIM) so they do not include information on the program or device. For more information click here.
Berard AIT is a 10-hour listening program developed by Dr. Guy Berard to help the brain process sound more efficiently. When the brain struggles to interpret sound correctly, it can lead to challenges with learning, communication, attention, and emotional regulation.
Berard AIT helps reduce sound sensitivities and distortions, improves how both ears work together, and supports better focus, understanding, and expression. It’s used not only for developmental challenges, but also to support growth in areas like academics, music, public speaking, and sports.
Pricing varies by location, practitioner and currency. To learn more, we recommend connecting directly with a certified Berard practitioner.
Berard AIT is helpful for children and adults who want to improve:
The minimum age is 3 years old, with no upper age limit.
No. Berard AIT is not a medical intervention, nor is it designed to treat or cure any disease. It is a sensory-based training program that supports better auditory processing and nervous system function.
No. Berard AIT is not a form of music therapy. While both use music, the goals, methods, and training are very different. Only certified Berard practitioners can deliver Berard AIT, and being a music therapist does not qualify someone to provide Berard AIT services.
Yes. Although Berard AIT was originally delivered in-person, it can now be completed remotely using video conferencing and a specialized device shipped to your home. You’ll work closely with your certified practitioner each day for supervision, guidance, and feedback to ensure the best results.
The audio testing used in Berard AIT requires focus and the ability to follow instructions. It may not be possible for very young children or individuals with communication difficulties to complete this test.
If audio testing isn’t possible, your practitioner can still proceed based on behavior and history. In that case, the program can be completed without filters. Research shows significant results with the standard modulated music.
